Planes, history and a small group of friends and family; these are what made this wedding special, this is Danae and Andy Wedding.
Danae and Andy's wedding took place at the National War Plane Museum in Geneseo, NY. Among a hanger filled with laughter from family, and friends, old and new, there are a few very special planes. Such as this Douglas C-47 Skytrain, known as Whiskey 7, which was used during World War II to help the storm Normandy. Not only was it used during WWII, it also made a return trip back to Normandy just a few years ago on the 70th Anniversary of D-Day, you can read more about that here.
I did say planes, plural, there is also the Memphis Belle, a Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress. Yes this is the Memphis Belle from the 1990 Motion Picture starting Matthew Modine, Eric Stoltz, and Tate Donovan. This B-17 was not actually used during WWII as it was finished a bit too late, however it was used as a VIP transport during the Korean War.
The weekend started with a dinner hosted by Andy's parents at the Museum, this gave everyone a chance to get to know each other, and to check out the planes!
The night was quickly coming to an end it was past just about everyone's bedtime, including Alfie's..
The Day, The Big Day. The Ceremony took place under the Whiskey 7
With weddings it's all about the details...though I'm not sure if plane rides fall under the most peoples first thoughts of wedding details. But it does for Danae and Andy!
I have to say there probably isn't a better time to fly over Upstate New York than the fall. And this was the smoothest flight I've ever been on, so much smoother than any commercial aircraft.
After the flight it was time for everyone's favorite part of a wedding, the three Ds...Dinner Drinks and Dancing!
May you both be the air beneath each others wings.
